THIS IS A GRASS ROOTS EVENT TO TRIBUTE TO SOME VERY DESERVING VIETNAM ERA VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES, SOME OF WHOM ARE STILL SACRIFICING FROM LOSS. Thank you for participating with us, Doran F. Jaffas God Bless you all and may we always Stand for what is Right and True in The United States of America. Hi and Thank you for visiting the News Letter Section of this site. I am putting this in bold lettering as I believe this is probably the most important statement(s) I will make regarding this event and those that follow. Please know that everyone involved in making this tribute a success is doing it from their heart. There is no room for outdoing one another or anothers event. This is soley done out of deep grattitude for all who served during the Vietnam Era whether overseas or within the United States of America. This is not an evangelistic outreach but myself the other leaders make no mistake that this ride belongs to The Lord and we are relying on His guidance. With this in mind and heart-this very special event will be a success for all who are assisting and for all who will take part in this Tribute, Vietnam Era Veterans, other Veterans and civilians alike. Thank you again for taking the time to visit us. We hope we will see you there on August 22, 2009. Gods Blessings to all of you, Doran F. jaffas

UPDATED AUGUST 24, 2009
Hello to everyone! It is hard to believe that the 2009 tribute is now history. A friend and leader put it this way and it seems to ring true "It is like preparing for a wedding. With all the plans and excitement and then .... it is over and there is an emotional drop and void". This pretty well describes it for me (no men-I am not comparing you to females or vice versa:) This years event had some competition with some other very worthy events and this was not known until too late to change the date. My sincere apologies for that! Also-we had October like weather that did not seem to dampen the spirits of those that attended. Very good turn out! I want to truly thank all of you that came out. The folks in St. Johns really went all out for this event and it was so good to see the appreciation for them-from you that attended. They definately deserve our grattitude for all of their hard work.
I have yet to absorb this all folks so please excuse the rambling here for a minute or two. When the first one in 2007 was history there was really no thought of doing this again and here we are with the third annual Vietnam Legacy Ride and Tribute in the books so to speak and plans are underway for 2010 as I write this. Some things were learned this year as well and will be put into place for next years ride / event. Thank you to the trike rider that suggested a special spot for the trikes in the rear. That will happen for next year among a few other things.
There were some glitches in the event that I am sure that many of you did not know about but those that did-thank you for taking them in stride! Thank you to all of you for putting up with the blow horn due to electricity being out at the Michigan Vietnam Veterans Memorial! All of you came in close and had a sense of humor about it.
The day I hope-turned out as a special one for those that attended. I heard some very positive remarks and was honored and priveledged to meet many of you including those from In Country Vietnam Motorcycle Club as well as friends that surprised me by showing up to thank those that served in and during Vietnam.
There were many things I wished to say at the site (and some I forgot to say) but then the event would have lasted a looooooooooong time.
The Lord Blessed those there with a break in the weather and for the time of the entire Tribute from St. Johns to the Michigan Veitnam Veterans Memorial.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS THAT CAME OUT AND TRULY MADE THIS A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE EVENT FOR ALL !
ALSO, A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE CREW OF THE BLACK HAWK HELICOPTER THAT GAVE A FITTING TRIBUTE TO THOSE THAT SO RICHLY DESERVE IT AND STILL DO!
I am truly humbled by how so many have stepped up for such an event that started with a non challant comment from a cpl of Vietnam Veterans in 2007. I went to my knees and what you have seen is the result of Christs' direction (albeit followed imperfectly). There will be pics of this years event posted as they come in but it may take a cpl of weeks so PLEASE STAY TUNED To this site. For now I will close with this. The leaders of this event are truly greatful for the service and sacrifice of those and their families that served during the Vietnam Era. You are loved and in our prayers. Till I write again... Doran F. Jaffas 616-706-3749 (ANYTIME) Please send me your comments and suggestion for next years event as this ride and event is YOURS! Also I will gladly recieve any pics you have!
